Instagram is testing a newer immersive video viewing experience

Social Media
Instagram is running design and algorithm-driven tests to give its users a better video content experience in the main Home feed.

In today's digital world, where social media platforms are almost inspired by each other, producing quality and original content has become very important. Instagram wants to improve this experience with its new application interface tests.

The social media company wants to offer a more immersive video content experience on the home screen post stream and can switch to a TikTok-like full-screen vertical home feed by trying to keep videos even more noticeable for users. They also avoid introducing a radical design change to the Home feed by not interfering too much with the user-familiar interface experience.

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri said that they can change the ranking algorithm to reward original content and that the company will continue to invest in creator tools.

More than 20% of users spend most of their time on Reels videos on Instagram. At the same time, 50% of users spend their time on the Meta (Facebook) platform consisting of video content. Like Meta, search engine company Google continues to compete against TikTok with its "YouTube Shorts" feature. Starting to test Shorts ads, Google has increased its statistics four times compared to last year, with 30 billion views data it has obtained.

Let's take a look at the factors that can improve the quality of your video content:

  • Instagram is now starting to highlight SEO-compatible content more in its algorithm structure. It is very important to use original language and correct tags in video content.
  • If you have a B2C-focused content or campaign plan, using "call-to-action" phrases at the beginning and end of your videos will enable consumers to take direct action.
  • If you are going to follow a strategy that allows you to interact with the consumer directly, such as influencer marketing in your video campaigns, "target audience analysis and competitor analysis" will guide you on what to do.
  • As the popularity of video content continues to increase, competition on the platforms is also increasing. “Age, gender, region” analysis should be included in your content strategy.
  • In the technical part, elements such as the production of video content in high resolution, shooting in the right dimensions and vertical format if possible, and a unique and therefore original text language add value to the content.
